Entry and passports for Swiss citizens
Swiss citizens can visit Mauritius for tourism without applying for a visa. You still need the right documents, and the online travel form is easy to miss.
What to have ready
- A valid passportSome sources ask for validity on departure, others for 6 months. Use the stricter rule and travel with at least 6 months left.
- A return or onward ticketOfficers ask for it, and airlines can refuse boarding without it.
- Proof of accommodationA hotel booking, or the address and contact details of your host. Carry a printed copy as well as the one on your phone.
- The All-in-One Travel Digital FormA free online form that combines immigration, customs and health declarations. Fill it in within 72 hours before arrival and keep the QR code it gives you.
- Proof of funds (sometimes)Immigration may ask to see cash, cards or a bank statement covering your stay.
Use only the official portal for the travel form. Paid look-alike sites exist, and the form is free.
What a tourist entry does not allow
Visa-free entry is for tourism and short stays. Working, paid volunteering or business activity is not permitted on it.
Staying longer
Your allowed stay is stamped on arrival. If you want longer, you can apply for an extension at the Passport and Immigration Office, with documents such as proof of accommodation and funds. Remote workers can look at Mauritius' Premium Visa, and investors and future residents will find more in our investing and residency guide.
Before you fly
Rules change, and airlines can be stricter than the country. Check the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs travel advice, the Mauritius Passport and Immigration Office, and your airline's page for passengers to Mauritius.
